Hi everyone,
What a fantastic meeting we had on Wednesday at the Ashburton Masonic Centre! It was wonderful to gather with friends and brethren from Bovey Tracey Lodge 8698 for what turned out to be a truly fascinating evening.
We were privileged to host The Devon Mark Support Team, who delivered an incredibly engaging presentation. It certainly sent me down a rabbit hole of research afterwards!
Did you know that the Grand Master of the Mark Degree is MW the Grand Master HRH Prince Michael of Kent, who brings a tremendous amount of charisma to the role? I also love the Mark Motto: “He gives twice who gives promptly” —a brilliant sentiment to live by.
The team shared some remarkable local history that really resonated with us Devonian masons. We learned that Devon is actually the oldest Mark Province, having been consecrated in December 1857. We were also fascinated to hear that Mark Masons’ symbols can actually be found carved into the walls of the Beer Caves on our coastline—a reminder that the stone for so many of our historic buildings was quarried right here on our doorstep.
You can watch the presentation video here: The Magic of the Mark
A huge thank you to the presenting team for their time and knowledge:
🔹WBro Rob Summers, PPrSGW
🔹WBro Garry Kitchen, PPrJGW
🔹WBro Paul Stevenson, PPrGSwdB
🔹WBro Jon Webber, PM
🔹WBro Nick Chapman, PPrGSuptWks

Your passion for the Degree and your support for our lodge is truly appreciated.
And, as always with Bovey Tracey Lodge, the quality of the ritual was only matched by the quality of the company afterwards! A delicious festive board was had by all, filled with great conversation, laughter, and the unique camaraderie that makes our meetings so special. 🥂

Great to see everyone there. Here’s to the next one!
