The highlight of our Meeting on 3rd December was the presentation of a 50th Certificate to WBro Adam Nichol by WBro Peter Keaty, our Past Deputy PGM.

WBro Adam was initiated into a Scottish Lodge in 1966, thus a Freemason for well over 50 years! The Certificate relates to his time in the English Constitution, moving South in the seventies when he became a Founder Member of Bovey Lodge in 1976. He became Wm in 1988, subsequently holding the Office of Director of Ceremonies for many years.
Unfortunately, WBro Michael Badcock, also a former Founder and Past Master in 1987, was unable to attend to receive a similar Certificate for which he qualifies.
During the meeting, WBro Charlie Peace, our Treasurer, delivered an interesting, Short Lecture on The Master Masons Apron, written by the late Alan Clements.
Ballots were held for two prospective Joining Members; WBro Mel Thompson, a member of St Lawrence Lodge who is well known to us as the ‘chief engineer’ operating the equipment which provides recorded music at our meetings, and Bro Roy Fincham, currently unattached and looking for a new ’home’. Both ballots proved unanimous in their respective favour.
An excellent four course festive Christmas dinner followed the meeting during which our new Director of Ceremonies, WBro James Hodge-Brooks, also ‘manager’ of our distinctive, bespoke serviettes, presented WBro Adam with a new one marking this special occasion.

Photographs are often taken at the convenience of the photographer rather than that of the audience, resulting in some subjects having mouthfuls of food! Sorry!!

The dining room was not exactly ‘decked out with ‘balls of holly’ but there were lights while ‘somebody’ went to the trouble of buying quality crackers to pull and noisy ‘whistles’ to blow. I don’t recall any thanks being expressed for these extra decorations. They added to the festive spirit. A big thank you to whoever that ‘somebody’ was! While Top Table feasted, most brethren waited in eager anticipation!
