With the benefit of a Dispensation from Devon Provincial Grand Lodge, the Installation of Bro Neil Chapple into the Chair of the Bovey Tracey Lodge took place on ‘Guy Fawkes Night’ at the Dartmoor Lodge Motel, Ashburton. WBro Neal was initiated into Bovey Tracey Lodge 41 years ago – an unusually long time to attain this auspicious position!
The occasion was presided over by WBro Tim Golder, Assist PGM supported by WBro Keith Ward, Prov Dep DC and seven other Active Provincial Officers whom the brethren of Bovey Tracey Lodge were delighted to welcome. WBro Steve Cox provided the music, very kindly packing his own electric organ in his car!
The Installing Master, WBro Martyn Brooks enjoyed the full support of the brethren during his successful year which included a ‘Ladies Night’ function during which £2,500 was raised and donated to his selected charity, ‘Pete’s Dragons’, a registered Devon charity which offers support to those impacted by suicide.
The Function Room was used for the dual purpose of the meeting after being suitably ‘secured’ by a team of brethren during the morning, requiring reinstatement for the Festive Board by the staff at conclusion of the formal proceedings. After a period of chatting at the bar, forty-two brethren returned to the dining room to enjoy an excellent dinner in a happy atmosphere during which over £300 was raised for charity.
